Stand Up Paddle Board

Be weary of breakdown gear for watersports - it always performs crappy and inevitably leaks. I would think also this would never be a performance board because the flex would be so odd.

Meaning just the take apart board or inflatables?

I know the one inflatable I'm looking at is made in Utah and comes with a lifetime warranty.

Dave Scadden boards? (Google is wonderful)...hmmm, they do look interesting - I'd be interested in hearing what you think of them...

other notes:
- air expands when hot, contracts when cold - this makes more of a difference than you would believe! You'll want to watch that the pressure doesn't get too high when out in the sun, and may have to add air when you're paddling cold water (really)

So I ended up buying a Dave Scadden inflatable board. Hah, I didn't test it with a pack of dogs on it though, so I probably should have gotten a bigger one. The JRT behind me isn't mine - belongs to random guy I ran into on the water who took pics. (It was too coincidental to have the same breed dog in the same life jacket not to stop and chat and introduce the dogs!) We were getting the dogs to fetch tennis balls off my board, which was fun. I can stand up and paddle with my two on there, and even stand while Ginger jumps off the board (as long as I'm expecting it), but with three on there it was a bit much. Haha.

I'm thinking that next year I'll get a second, thicker one designed to hold more weight, and use this one for solo trips, bigger one for DH or when I have the dogs. I think the rocker of it makes it cut through the water nicely, but add 65 pounds of wet dog (it's got to be 85lbs of dog in the photos) and my feet get wet a lot. Haha. But overall, it works quite nicely - easy to inflate, tracks quite well, and the tiedowns on it work nicely for dog leashes. Plus the lifetime warranty is tough to beat. He said if I accidentally run it over with my car or it blows out of the bed of the truck on the interstate... bring in what's left and he'll give me a new one.

If it was on the news, I missed it, but it was only yesterday. Wow.

I have the Slingshot Crossbreed 11' inflatable and love it!! 6" thickness versus the standard 4" on most boards makes it feel like a hard board. Again LOVE IT!!!

Depends on your weight. I prefer the hard, but I just leave it at the cottage. I'm not hauling it anywhere. I've a new one on order. It's 15 lbs lighter than my old board. Sorry to say I haven't been out with this torn meniscus.

I love my inflatable too, and it's rock solid when inflated. But I have a minimum 45 minute drive to get anywhere to use it, so it's the only practical option.

*Bump* Thanks for reminding me I want to try this! And if we get the bug, which we likely will since SO already tried it once and loved it, what sites do you recommend for buying used?

@vanhoskier @KatyPerrey @MaineSkiLady @altagirl or anyone else, any ideas? (Connie, love the pic of you and the dogs, btw! We have the same yellow vest for one of ours.)

I picked mine up from our local riversports shop when they were clearing out their rental fleet.

On our list to try this summer

va_deb - watch the weight of the board. My first one I could barely lift, but it was staying at the cottage. I didn't need to put it on top of a car..

Just got an email about this. I think we'll do this in August. I love doing things at ski resorts in the summer.
